FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I have been asked questions like:

1. I have never danced all of my 50 years, is there hope for me?

Definitely! For as long as you have rhythm in you, and an interest to learn, you definitely WILL learn. Now why do I say rhythm? It is because dance is based on rhythm, or beat, or tempo. For one to properly execute the dance steps, he or she must be in synch with the beat of the music.

2. But I do not know anything about rhythm, or tempo. What do I do?

I normally start my lessons with a familiarization with the beat of the dance that I teach. I then let you follow the beat with me. Once I am sure that you are familiar with the beat, we start the lesson proper.

3. I do not really want to learn competition dancing. I just want to be able to join dinner dances, or at least have fun at parties and events.

I can definitely help you! People basically want to dance because we simply want to enjoy parties, or dinner dances. Competition is for those who want to make dancing a career or those who want to advance their skills to higher levels and go beyond social dancing. We can always focus on what you prefer. If you want to learn social dancing, we will focus on your mastery of the dance steps until you are comfortable enough to execute them in public.

4. My partner and I have a dinner dance to go to next month but we have never danced in our lives. What do you suggest we do?

We need to get you started then. During our first few minutes, I assess your knowledge or skill level and from there, put you both on a fast-track learning skill. Since you have a specific event to go to and you know exactly what you need within a specific time frame, I will choreograph your entire sequence for you so that you can execute the dance from start till finish. This way, you do not have to cram for steps while you are on the dance floor for the entire series will be created by me.

5. How soon will I learn to dance?

As in any lesson, it depends on your interest and learning curve. Everyone will learn at his own pace. I am here to teach you the skill and evaluate your performance but as for speed in learning, it depends on the time and effort that you invest.

I have a couple who have never dance in all of their 50 years and in 4 hours of teaching, were able to confidently execute the Cha Cha Cha. In fact, during their very first dance, they won an award I dance.

6. I am shy and do not want others to see me learn the dance for I get intimidated in the presence of those who already know.

I have two kinds of classes: Private and Group. I offer private tutorials for those who prefer to learn away from the eyes of others. I actually have a lot of private classes and the one good thing about these classes is that you have my full attention. We progress at your pace and if you are a quick learner, you learn more within a shorter time. If you wanted more time learning, then you do not have to worry about others getting delayed because they had to wait for you.

7. Since you choreograph steps, will we have the same choreography as your other students?

No. I may throw in basic steps and variations that are alike occasionally, but your choreography will always be different and unique so that all of my students can dance their choreographed sequences side by side and yet everything will be different.

8. Can I shift from one dance to another while I am enrolled with you?

If you are enrolled in private lessons or tutorials, yes, for these lessons are tailor-made to suit your personal needs. If you are enrolled in a group or class, you learn the dance for that particular class that you enrolled in.

9. How do you accept payments?

I can accept cheques, cash, or PayPal. If you want to pay with your credit card, please feel free to do it online by clicking the PayPal button and then proceed to pay with your credit card. PayPal is the safest and most advanced payment online and it offers protection to its users. For this reason, I love paying or receiving payments with PayPal.
